Live Fab-u-LE$$: Decorate your home without breaking the bank.

Live Fab-u-LE$$: Decorate your home without breaking the bank.

1) Paint

Painting is one of the least expensive ways to change the entire look of any room.  You can also find inexpensive “oops” paint at local and national hardware stores– there’s nothing wrong with the paint, often it’s just that the color wasn’t what the purchaser expected.   And, if the thought of painting your whole house is overwhelming– throw an old fashioned painting party– invite your friends over and have them have at it!

2) Add accessories

Just like adding the right accessories to your wardrobe can completely transform it– the same goes for your home.  Adding or removing rugs, a few throw pillows, the right chandelier and especially– art– can make a world of difference.

3) Swap

Rearrange the furniture and objects within your home– move your living room furniture into your dining room and vice versa– or even swap out furniture and other items with your friends and family.  Repurpose the items that you already have– the dresser that currently holds clothing in your bedroom can function beautifully as a hallway table.  Your end tables might be perfect as nightables.

Even consider swapping furniture and other items with your friends and family.  Their castoffs can breathe new life into your home– and your castoffs will breathe new life into theirs, all without spending a cent.

4) Buy used

Thrift stores, garage sales, craigslist and even freecycle can help you completely transform your home without breaking the bank– you can find everything from brand new to antique furniture and accessories– and everything in between.  Especially ‘hard’ furniture like tables, dressers and other items made out of wood or other solid surfaces can easily be rehabbed, refinished or repainted– or used as is.

And, you can often find extremely well made and durable items used for a mere fraction of what they cost new– if you employ a little bit of patience and a discerning eye you can redecorate your whole home for less than the cost of one room’s worth of furniture.

Remember, don’t change your lifestyle, just change the way that you shop and live Fab-u-LE$$

Restaurant.com: Get a $25 gift certificate for only $2(!) *and* receive a FREE $15 FTD reward with every order! nds 2/14/10.

Click HERE and use code: HEART (Enter code and hit “Apply” at checkout!)

Get dinner *and* flowers for a fabuLESS price, just in time for Valentine’s Day! As always, check the restrictions– if there are any– for each restaurant that you select, but as long as you can live with the restrictions (i.e. must spend $35, valid only for dine in, etc)– it’s a fabuLESS way to try new restaurants or frequent old favorites.

And, here’s a tip– if the restaurant that you want is sold out of gift certificates, buy a ‘gift’ gift certificate– and then you can use that ‘gift’ gift certificate to purchase the restaurant of your choosing whenever it’s back in stock.

Gift certificates are valid for a year and are available to be used immediately.

Click HERE or sweeten your savings and click through ebates to get an additional 15% cashback, if you’re not already signed up for ebates, click HERE to do so and start getting cashback from over 1000 stores.
